Allegations
Beloved British author Neil Gaiman of stories such as “Coroline” and “Sandman” has recently been accused of sexual assault, currently affecting the production of the television show “Good Omens.” The 1990s book of the same name was adapted into a television series in 2019, starring David Tennant and Michael Sheen. Over the years, a strong fandom has developed, and with the cliffhanger ending of season two, fans have been anxiously awaiting production news for the final season upon the shocking allegations about the showrunner, Neil Gaiman.
Aftermath
Since allegations against Gaiman came to light, the fanbase has been in a frenzy about production. Recently it has been officially announced that the final season of “Good Omens” will consist of one 90-minute episode. Some have inferred that this sudden change in the show’s format, from six one-hour long episodes to a single 90-minute episode, is due to Gaiman stepping out of the project because of the fallout of the drama surrounding him. However, fans are worried that with new writers, the show will fall apart. This is more upsetting knowing that the show was created in honor of the late Sir Terry Pratchett, coauthor of the book “Good Omens,” as per his last request to Gaiman prior to his passing.
What To Expect
As updates on the situation regarding Neil Gaiman and “Good Omens” continue to come out, the situation will become more complex. Currently, sources say that on-set production is estimated to resume in early 2025 in Scotland. Hopefully, the new season will appease the devoted fans of both the book and the show.
