Ever since the “Merc with a Mouth” and the X-Man himself both had their live-action debut, fans have been begging for them to come together in a movie. Just as the MCU seemed like it was done for, Marvel Entertainment released an image for “Deadpool 3.” While fans were excited that we’re getting another “Deadpool” movie, they didn’t expect how the first poster would look and the character that would be in it. The poster features Deadpool’s logo with three scratch marks on it, heavily implying that Wolverine will be in it. For the longest time, people pondered who would play Wolverine and fill Hugh Jackman’s 6’3” shoes. That changed when Ryan Reynolds, the actor who portrays Deadpool, posted a video of himself asking Hugh Jackman if he wanted to play Wolverine one more time. In the video, Hugh says, “Sure, Ryan.” Shortly after, it was revealed that Deadpool 3 will be released on July 24, 2024. Feb. 11, 2024, was when the first teaser trailer for the film was released for the Superbowl.
The trailer featured several things: it begins with the cast from the previous two “Deadpool” movies singing happy birthday to Wade Wilson, AKA Deadpool, and then showcases what has been happening in Wade’s life, pulling a Spider-Man 2 and ditching the whole superhero gig for a while. After Wade blows out his candle, the TVA shows up. They are in charge of the timeline and have come to arrest him for disrupting the timeline, spoiling Deadpool 2, going back in time, and messing with the timeline, causing the TVA to be alerted. After being taken in by the TVA, he’s taken to Paradox, one of the higher ranks in the TVA, who tells Wade he has a chance of being a true hero. In true Deadpool fashion, he decides to go on his Path. At the very end of the teaser trailer, we get a sneak peek of Wolverine in a comic-accurate suit, but his face is hidden throughout the few seconds he’s on screen. After that, it’s revealed that the film’s name isn’t “Deadpool 3” but is named “Deadpool & Wolverine,” suggesting this will be a buddy movie. That’s just the teaser trailer.
Right after that teaser, the internet went wild. Then, on April 21, Ryan Reynolds posted a 50-second teaser saying that the full trailer would be released the day after that video. April 25, 2024, was when it was released. The trailer opens up with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine being kicked out of a bar. When Logan (Wolverine) is about to be kicked out, Deadpool takes Wolverine and explains that he needs help to save his world. The trailer showcases a lot of Deadpool and Wolverine fighting, also revealing the main villain of the story, Cassandra Nova (Charles Xavier’s evil sister). The trailer shows us even more amazing footage of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, living up to his potential as the awesome superhero he is. It even shows him without sleeves to increase the comic accuracy. The trailer showcases so many references that if I were to write them all down, you’d be reading this until tomorrow. At the very end, we get some funny dialogue between Blind Al and Wade and a release date of July 26, 2024.
Deadpool and Wolverine will save the MCU literally in the real world and the movie world. The villain looks great, and the story seems awesome. Ryan Reynolds looks like he’s going to be even better than he was in the previous movie, and Hugh Jackman will be spectacular. All we have to do now is wait until July 26.
