“The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” is a prequel to the famous “The Hunger Games” movie series. In this movie, we learn all about the background of President Snow: who he was, his friends, what his life was like, and more. Most importantly, we learn about his spiral into madness and what caused him to become the President Snow that we know from “The Hunger Games.”
I really enjoyed this movie. It was very well written, and it connects a lot of the dots when comparing it to “The Hunger Games” series. It really helped me understand the reasons behind various aspects of the movies and various characters. I enjoyed the acting and I felt engaged with the characters throughout the film. There were a lot of “aha moments” where you would get only a little piece of information, but it says a lot about the big picture and the franchise as a whole.
I highly recommend this movie to any and all dystopian fans, but more specifically to all fans of “The Hunger Games.” I had my doubts about it at first because it wouldn’t be about the famous Katniss Everdeen, but I found it to be an amazing movie anyway. I’m very happy that we learned lots of backstory on President Snow because even though I thought I understood his reasons, it was a lot more complicated, interesting, and intricate than I would have ever guessed.
