Cherokee girls lacrosse took on Kingsway in the quarterfinal round of the playoffs. After a nail biting game, Cherokee won 13-12 and advances to round three. The Lady Chiefs have high hopes after winning the Group 4 State Championship during the 2021 season. 

The beginning of the game was  rough for the Lady Chiefs with Kingsway leading 5-1. However, the perseverance of the Cherokee girls proved that they are a force to be reckoned with. The score was tied 6-6 at halftime. The second half of the game took a turn, with the lead switching back and forth between teams. Kingsway tied up the game in the final minutes of regulation time, with a 12-12 score. Moving to a double overtime, the game continued on as a tie until junior midfielder Delaney Jackson, committed to play D1 lacrosse at Loyola University, pulled through on a 8-meter shot and secured the victory for Cherokee. 

The determined and hard working Lady Chiefs will take on Southern in the semifinals on May 27, 2022. Stay tuned for more information and most importantly, Go Chiefs!
