Top ten songs of 11/27/21

1: All Too Well (Taylor’s Version)- Pk. 1

Artist: Taylor Swift

Sales: 57.8k

Streams: 54m

Airplay: 0.2m

“All Too Well” is a song off of Taylor Swift’s new album: “Red (Taylor’s Version).” “All Too Well” was originally included on Swift’s 2012 album, “Red.” Since she re-recorded that entire album, she decided to re-release it this year. “All Too Well” is very unique because the song is a whopping 10 minutes and 13 seconds long! That makes “All Too Well” the longest song to ever top the Hot 100. As of right now, its airplay remains almost nonexistent, but thanks to her enormous fanbase her sales and streaming numbers are astronomically high. This could serve as an issue, however, since radio stations tend to favor shorter songs to promote. If “All Too Well” fails to reach the airplay numbers the rest of the top 10 has and if sales and streaming die down, then this song could quickly leave the top 10. That is most likely not going to happen, because the song is extremely popular. “All Too Well” will appeal to people who enjoy country-pop music. “All Too Well” debuted on the hot 100 this week.

2: Easy On Me- Pk. 1

Artist: Adele

Sales: 25.1k

Streams: 21.3m

Airplay: 83.8m

“Easy On Me” is the debut single for Adele’s upcoming album, “30,” which was released on November 19. After a 5-year-long hiatus, Adele has finally returned with new music, new life experiences, a reignited fanbase, and even a new appearance. Adele is no stranger to success. Her 2011 song “Rolling In The Deep” became the number one song of that year. With the release of her new album taking over everyone’s streaming platforms, it’s no question that Adele’s success has carried on into the new decade. It’s still unclear whether “Easy On Me” will be more successful than some of her previous hits, such as “Hello” and “Someone Like You.” Her success may start to dwindle if Taylor Swift’s popularity continues to grow. “Easy On Me” will appeal to anyone who enjoys ballads. “Easy On Me” descended 1 spot from last week and it originally ranked at number 1.

3: Stay- Pk. 1

Artist: The Kid LAROI & Justin Bieber

Sales: 5.9k

Streams: 15.7m

Airplay: 83.4m

“Stay” is the debut single of The Kid LAROI’s album, “F*** Love 3: Over You,” which is a continuation of his 2020 mixtape, “F*** Love.” “Stay” is The Kid LAROI’s biggest hit and it remained at the number one spot for seven non-consecutive weeks. Having Justin Bieber on the song really helped boost its popularity, since 7 of his previous songs have reached the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100. However, despite the popularity of “Stay,” it’s beginning to show its age. For the last couple of weeks, its airplay has been slowly declining. This caused “Easy On Me” to have higher airplay than “Stay.” If streaming and airplay continue to decrease, it will be overshadowed by newer songs and will fail to stay in the top 10. “Stay” can be appreciated by anyone who enjoys synth-pop, hip pop, or pop rock. “Stay” descended 1 spot from last week and it originally ranked at number 2.

4: Industry Baby- Pk. 1

Artist: Lil Nas X & Jack Harlow

Sales: 4.9k

Streams: 16.6m

Airplay: 64.6m

“Industry Baby” is the third single off of Lil Nas X’s new album, “Montero.” Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow are both relatively new artists. Lil Nas X achieved fame in 2019 with his debut hit, “Old Town Road,” which peaked at number one for 19 consecutive weeks. Harlow became known in the music industry with his 2020 hit, “What’s Poppin’,” which peaked at number two. Both artists rose to fame with the social media app, TikTok, which is geared towards people in the younger generation. Like “Stay,” its airplay and streaming continue to slowly decrease, which means it may also lose its popularity in the coming weeks. “Industry Baby” can be enjoyed by those who like pop rap music. “Industry Baby” descended 1 spot from last week and it originally ranked at number 4.

5: Smokin Out The Window- Pk. 5

Artist: Silk Sonic (Bruno Mars & Anderson Paak)

Sales: 8.8k

Streams: 24.7m

Airplay: 15.8m

“Smokin’ Out The Window” is the third single off of Silk Sonic’s debut album, “An Evening with Silk Sonic.” Although Bruno Mars and Anderson Paak have been solo artists in the music industry for years, this year is the first time where they are releasing music as a duo. Mars has a long history with success, with songs such as “Locked Out of Heaven” and “That’s What I Like” reaching the number one spot on the Hot 100. The pair has also seen some success together with their previous hit, “Leave The Door Open,” reaching number one as well. Although its airplay remains low, it takes some time for airplay numbers to grow, so there is still enormous potential for “Smokin’ Out The Window” to rise higher on the charts. As of right now, its success is fueled by its large streaming numbers, but it needs to gain in sales and airplay in order to solidify its spot in the top 10. “Smokin’ Out The Window” can be enjoyed by those who listen to R&B music. “Smokin’ Out The Window” ascended 3 spots from last week. It originally ranked at number 8.

6: Bad Habits- Pk. 2

Artist: Ed Sheeran

Sales: 5.0k

Streams: 11.5m

Airplay: 61.0m

“Bad Habits” is the debut single off of Ed Sheeran’s album, “=.” Released on June 25, “Bad Habits” has evolved from a summer hit to a fall hit. This indicates the song’s longevity in popularity. Sheeran is also no stranger to success. His biggest hit, “Shape Of You,” peaked at number one for 12 non-consecutive weeks. Sheeran’s success has spanned for over a decade now, and it doesn’t seem to end anytime soon. Although the recent release of Sheeran’s new album gave a boost of success to the aging song, the hype has begun to die down. This caused “Bad Habits” to slide out of the top 5. At this point, its success is only attributed to its large airplay numbers, but if its airplay continues to decline “Bad Habits” will fall off of the top 10. “Bad Habits” will appeal to those who enjoy dance pop or synth pop music. “Bad Habits” descended two spots from last week and was originally ranked at number 4.

7: Shivers- Pk. 5

Artist: Ed Sheeran

Sales: 10.9k

Streams: 13.9m

Airplay: 45.7m

“Shivers” is the second single off of Sheeran’s new album, “=.” Sheeran is unique in this case because he is currently the only artist with more than one song in the top 10. Unlike “Bad Habits,” its numbers have been more consistent. It continues to slowly grow in airplay and streaming, and its sales have not dramatically declined in the past week. Since this is a newer song, there is more hope for success in the future than “Bad Habits.” However, its streaming and airplay aren’t at the same level as other songs, such as “Easy On Me” and “Industry Baby,” so it’s hard to tell whether “Shivers” will be able to re-enter the top 5. “Shivers” will appeal to those who listen to dance-pop music. “Shivers” descended two spots from last week. It originally ranked at number 5.

8: Heat Waves- Pk. 8

Artist: Glass Animals

Sales: 3.5k

Streams: 13.5m

Airplay: 41.3m

“Heat Waves,” by the English indie rock band, Glass Animals, is the 4th single off of their latest album, “Dreamland.” Although they have been releasing music since 2012, “Heat Waves,” is their first big hit. It charted in the top 10 in more than 10 countries and peaked all the way at number one in Australia. Although “Heat Waves” was mainly popular back in the spring, it has just recently gained traction in the US as it slowly creeps its way towards the top 5. Although Glass Animals didn’t have any hits prior to “Heat Waves,” its previous success in other countries might make it another contender for the next number one spot. Although its airplay continues to increase, its streaming continues to decrease due to the song being so old. So, it’s hard to tell whether it’ll continue to climb higher on the hot 100.  “Heat Waves” is for people who like to listen to pop or R&B music. “Heat Waves” ascended two spots from last week and it originally ranked at number 10.

9: Need To Know- Pk. 8

Artist: Doja Cat

Sales: 2.6k

Streams: 10.9m

Airplay: 51.1m

“Need To Know” is the third single off of Doja Cat’s album: “Planet Her.” Doja Cat, much like Lil Nas X, is a fairly new artist. She gained recognition in early 2020 with her breakout hit: “Say So.” Also like Lil Nas X, she gained fame and recognition through TikTok. It’s no surprise that Doja Cat is achieving so much success in the charts right now, since she just hosted The VMAs a couple months ago. The only question remaining is if “Need To Know” will peak higher than her previous hit, “Kiss Me More” (which peaked at number 3). Its sales, streaming, and airplay numbers have all decreased since last week, so Doja Cat will need to promote this song in order for it to rise any higher on the charts. “Need To Know” is made for people who enjoy contemporary music. “Need To Know” remained at the number 9 position from last week.

10: Fancy Like- Pk. 3

Artist: Walker Hayes

Sales: 10.2k

Streams: 13.8m

Airplay: 28.2m

“Fancy Like” is the debut single off of Walker Hayes’ EP, “Country Stuff.” “Fancy Like” is the first song by Hayes to peak in the top 40 in the US, despite him being over 40 years old. However, this specific song gained recognition from the growing country music fan base. Many consist of teenagers and young adults. “Fancy Like” continues to decrease in sales, streaming, and airplay, which is a clear indicator that it may not have much time left in the top 10. This song will appeal to those who enjoy country pop or country rap. “Fancy Like” descended three spots from last week and it originally ranked at number 7.
