The Eternals: The Future of The MCU
The newest edition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), The Eternals, will be released on Nov. 5, but not many people initially understand what it is about. The Eternals is the next step in phase four and will be critical to watch to understand whatever lies ahead of the MCU.
In the comics, the Eternals were people from the planet Olympia sent to earth to protect us from evil. The Eternals have lived in secret for seven thousand years, fighting the evil known as the Deviants. The Deviants and the Eternals have been technologically advanced yet pitted against one another in a raging war since 20,000 BCE.
Although we are not entirely sure how the Eternals movie will connect to the current MCU timeline, fans have concluded that Thanos might be a part of this movie. This movie is set after Avengers: Endgame, where Thanos was the main antagonist. One possibility as to a storyline for the upcoming movie was in the comics Thanos is an Eternal with something called Deviant Syndrome, which gave him his broad structure and purple skin.
Due to that, it is not out of the realm of possibility that Thanos will play a big role in Marvel’s Eternals. It is entirely possible that Thanos is the reason the plot of this movie occurs. This is also backed up by the fact that it was announced that Thanos’ brother (played by Harry Styles) will make an appearance in a post-credit scene.
For now, we do not know how much of the comic book lore will appear in the final movie, but we’ll have to wait and see on November 5, 2021, where The Eternals will take the future of the Marvel Universe.
