Student Council’s Annual Fall Volleyball Tournament has been cancelled due to lack of interest. Typically, the tournament is packed with seniors that are excited to take down some freshman, but it seems like the seniors are just exhausted. A lot of them have participated since their freshman year, but between the stress of turning in college applications and applying for scholarships, they just cannot add one more thing to their plate. This year, only eight teams had signed up to compete and the low turnout would result in a net loss. It seems that each year, more and more events are cancelled due to low interest and Cherokee students are starting to wonder if they are losing out on fun activities because of academic stress. A lot of seniors have said that they would love to do the Annual Spring Volleyball Tournament because by that time, applications will be submitted and senioritis will have plagued the entire Class of 2019. Hopefully the spring tournament will have a better turnout, otherwise the 2018-2019 school year will be the first one to not have a single tournament.
